Girl time

Daddy and Derick are out at the races and us girls are hanging at home. Tonight I painted Darla's nails for the first time. She picked a sweet pink color and kept saying, "I love it!" While I worked. She sat pretty still for the painting, but there are quite a few spots that have already smudged. For being 2 1/2 I think she did well.

What a difference a day (or two) can make

I harvested my first bunch of shuckable peas this morning. Ah, my favorite! And you know not all of them made it into the photo! Then, my attention turned to the beans. I swear they grew overnight. We have baby beans!

Veggie garden update

Ah, my happy place......I truly love our garden! It's the place I go when I need peace. The peas (that I have looked forward to all spring) have arrived. The tomatoe plants look more like bushes (yikes!), and the beans are on their way. The raspberries are ripe and the blueberries are turning blue. I couldn't be more pleased!

Renton river days 2011

The kids and I explored Renton's city fair today. The weather was warm, the people watching was fun, and the food was delish. The only thing we were missing was Daddy, who was volunteering at SCORE's soccer tournament nearby. Everyone had a good time and this mama is glad to be home relaxing now. Summer has arrived in western Washington. Whoot!

Mystery plants are such fun!

I love a good surprise and its even more fun when it's a plant. I got what I thought were iris from a friend last fall and planted them near my other iris. However, I didn't get iris this summer. What I did get is so pretty, a day lily, I think. Its colors are new to me and I just love it! Thanks, Julia! I hope it thrives in my garden.

A big boy now

Yesterday, I woke to the sounds of someone eating cereal...the clink of the spoon hitting the bowl.  And I thought...is Jeremy home still??  He should be at work already.  So, I groggly came downstairs to find my 5 year old sitting at the table, eating.  He had got down his own bowl, spoon, cereal and poured the milk!  I was impressed! Only a few spills on the table, too.  Wow, he's getting SO big!!

Fourth of July BBQ

We had to head home early from Lonnie's because of work for Jeremy, but I still wanted to celebrate on the REALLY day. We were lucky to be invited to a friend's house for a BBQ and fireworks. J2D2 was tired, but everyone rallied and we had a nice time celebrating with friends.

 Jenn and I picked out matching outfits, without even talking to each other!!

Fourth of July at Lonnie's

We spent most of the long weekend with Jeremy's step dad, Lonnie. Jeremy's sisters, nieces and a brother joined in the fun. The weather was perfect for lots of outside fun.

 Papa bought a pool for us to cool off in, however, the wind was pretty breezy and it was a little bit TOO cold for long periods of swimming. 

 The sandbox and trampoline are always a hit with the kids.

 Jeremy broke out the Crockett game and kept the kids busy for quite a while.

 Darla really enjoyed the power wheels quad.  She steers pretty good for a 2.5 year old.

 I did alot of bird watching over the weekend, but never got a  good shot of the coolest bird there. It was a beautiful blue and purple color.  However, I did see lots of great birds.

 We did our fireworks on Sunday evening and all the kids had a blast! 

  Lonnie's neighbor had some BIG showy fireworks, and we were happy to enjoy them too.  It was a wonderful family filled weekend.  We packed up on Monday and headed home because quite a few of the adults had to work on Tuesday.
