Memorial Weekend in Glenoma, WA

Jeremy's step father owns a almost 5 acre piece of property near Rife Lake.  We are blessed enough to be able to spend long holiday weekends with him, camping out with the family.  Lonnie has made it a lot of fun for kids of all ages with play equipment, a hot tub, riding track with atvs to ride, and plenty of movies to watch.  Thanks for a wonderful weekend, Lonnie!

The Jeans that changed a life

I recently took a trip to the local goodwill to get Derick some new jeans.  The boy loves to wear them, but wears the knees out pretty fast.  After washing and drying the two new pair I had found, I asked Derick to try them on.  The first pair he put on, he loved.  He could move in them, they were soft (worn in but whatever) and easy to stretch in.  In fact, he loved them SO much, he told me, "Mom, these jeans have changed my LIFE!"  LOL!!!  What a cute kid I have.

I thought his comment was so cute, I asked him to tell Daddy at dinner so I could try to capture the moment on video.  Here's the result.

Pied Piper Preschool

I feel like the Peery family hit the jackpot when we found the Pied Piper Preschool, two years ago.  The teachers, Ms Stephens and Ms Richards are wonderful, experienced, and so very loving with their kids. They put their hearts into the program, and it shows. Derick has grown leaps and bounds over the last two years, and I credit alot of his emotional and academic growth to the school. 

Last night, they hosted the Spring Sing and Graduation at the church that houses the school. It was a sweet night, filled with songs and memories. I only got emotional when the Pre-K class sang their goodbye song that one last time. Oh, how sweet they all sounded. Here are some pictures of Derick with his teachers and friends.

Preschool time is really over for Derick.  He will attend Maplewood Hights next year in the half day kindergarten program.  The good news is, we are not done with Pied Piper, yet!  We look forward to having Darla go in the school year of 2012-2013.  Thank you, Ladies, for an excellent two years!  We look forward to seeing you again.

Project veggie garden update

The garden is all planted! I put the pole beans in this afternoon. The only plants left are the blueberries, and I don't even have them purchased. So, let the growing commence!

Girls Weekend at the Ocean

Last weekend the Pink Lemonade ladies had their second annual girls weekend at the ocean. I helped organize the trip again this year and we returned to the same lovely little beach house in Moclips, WA. There were 15 girls in attendance this year, and I think everyone had a nice time. For me, the weekend had a deeper meaning. I had just found out some difficult news regarding my father's health. So, I went to the ocean to process. It was perfect. I cried, I laughed, I ate, I crafted. And at the end of the weekend, I was feeling more centered and ready to help my family in any way that I could. Mother's Day 2011

Being a mom is one of the hardest things I've ever done.  I am challenged in ways I never dreamed of.  And, I have learned so much more than I expected; about myself, about my husband; and about the world.  I wouldn't take a moment back, even the ones filled with tears.  Because I know there are 10 times more moments filled with love.  And I have such a different kind of respect for my own mom.  She makes it look soooo easy! 

We had some nice family gatherings this weekend to celebrate all the moms.  Jeremy's family came to our house Saturday afternoon/evening for a yummy Mexican meal.  He made my favorite, Tamale bake!

My family joined us for breakfast on Sunday morning, before the Kunz troop headed more south for some horse racing fun.  The meal was wonderful, and we all ate too much, again!
