Back yard campout

Jeremy has been promising the kids they could sleep in the tent ever since the weather got warmer. We are running out of summer weekends, so they camped out last night. We had a fire in the pit and roasted marshmellows with our friend Jerry. At 8:30, it was time to sleep. Jeremy said the kids went to sleep fine, but he didn't realize how loud our neighborhood was! He was kept awake by barking dogs, a family of racoons, and night racing cars. Oh well, the kids came in the house bouncing with joy this morning, so it must have been a sucess!

Summer fun

Last weekend, J2D2 was looking to cool off and have some fun. So we stopped into 7-11 for some slurpees before heading to the tukwilla spray park. What great summertime fun!

Potty training

Guess who's finally getting the hang of going on the potty? Darla is! She's doing great at going tinkle on the potty and staying dry at night. We still have more work to do with getting there in time for number 2, but I have seen the end of diapers. We are offically done with them and I'm so pleased! After a recent trip to Target, Darla is now sporting the cutest Hello Kitty underpants that she picked out. Yay for my big girl!

Annual Family Camp out at Westport

Jeremy's family gathers every year in Westport, WA to enjoy each other and the beach.  This year, the group was much smaller, due to the passing of Grandma Max.  But we decided to go, and honor her by attending.  There were about 40 of us, about half of the usual crew.  We had a nice time and were blessed with pretty good weather for some fun sand play.  Here's the pics to highlight some of my favorite moments.

 We had beautiful sunshine on Friday and took advantage by spending several hours at the beach.

 Kellie drove out for the day with her kids on Saturday and so we spent more wonderful time on the beach with them.  She braved the cold to play in the waves.

Grandma Maxine

Jeremy and I said goodbye to dear Grandma Maxine last Wednesday afternoon.  She was Jeremy's grandma, but from the moment we met, she's always been dear to my heart.  Maxine was a spunky, loving woman who cherished her family deeply.  We camped together, ate many meals together, and had long talks of family and friends.  She was a beautiful woman, and will be deeply missed.  But, I know she lives on in our hearts and in the legacy of her kids, grandkids, and many great-grandkids.  I will always love you, Grandma!

The tomato plants that have taken over

OMG, when did this happen? Our 4 tomato plants have taken over one of the raised beds in our garden. It's been totally stressing me out to watch them fall all over the place. So Jeremy has built a string support system for them. There's plenty of green fruit....now it just needs to ripen!

The ups and downs of gardening

Oh the highs and lows of taking care of a veggie garden! My beloved peas have developed a fungal disease. Most of the plants are effected now. It looks like this:


I'm still getting peas, but the plants are dying. I think they didn't have enough air circulation around the plants. I'm so sad.

But, on a happy note, my bush beans are producing like crazy. Yippee! Here's the first harvest.


And my tomatoes are coming along. Lots of fruit, but it's all still green. I can't wait to eat my first homegrown tomato!
