Spring break; Garden Stay-cation

Since it's really close to planting time and it's spring break, Jeremy decided to take a week off from work and get this garden DONE!  So, we are making some faster progress, now.  Here's some more photos to catch you up to speed.

We had one post left from the old fence that we had to remove.  We had to dig down deep to find the cement support. We guess the hole was about two feet down when all was said and done.

 Jeremy rented a HUGE rototiller to help us dig up all the grass.  It was stubborn sod, I tell ya.

 In the middle of a 'spring shower' that felt more like a down pour complete with hail, we got our new topsoil from one of my favorite garden centers, Carpinito Brothers.

Jeremy, being extra through, put up some steaks to help us visualize where the raised beds will go.  It helped us try to level the ground a bit, too. 

Now, we are finishing building our veggie beds.  Tomorrow we fill them with dirt! By the end of the week, we should be planting!  Yay!!

Happy Birthday Derick!

Our little man has turned 5!!!  I still can't quite believe that it was 5 years ago when we became parents to a handsome baby boy.  Now he's such a funny, smart, social, active, and happy kid.  He is growing like a weed, and is in the 90% for both weight and height.  He enjoys Lego's, playing house with his sister, playing soccer on The Blue Flame, and preschool.  He can write his own name, knows how to count to 100 (with a little help), and is a great helper with all kinds of chores.  His sense of humor is developing and he loves reading books.  He is really into the Wild Kratts on TV and loves to learn about animals.

A park play date with all of Derick's friends, and mine too!  It was a fun morning, seeing so many mamas and kids that were such a huge part of Derick and I's lives for the last 5 years.  And the rain held off til the end too!

We celebrated Brian Kunz's birthday along with Derick's in Redmond with a rib feast! 

And last, but not least, we celebrated at home with mostly family and some family friends.  We lucked out, the sun came out and made for a nice afternoon of bouncing, cake, and laughter.

Lucas's 3rd Birthday

Ok, I'm finally getting pics off my cell phone...and realized I forgot to blog about a cute lil man's special day.  Here's the pictures from our nephew's 3rd birthday.  I did mention we have ALOT of birthdays this time of year in our family, right?  Stay tuned, there's more to come!

We have a FENCE!

Last weekend, Jeremy and I were able to get our new fence built, despite the rain and bad concrete!  We ended up replacing one of the posts we had already set, because the concrete had cracked into 4 pieces and it just didn't seem stable.  Thanks to our neighbor, we didn't have to buy a new post!

Next step:  build the gate and the raised beds.  It's getting closer every weekend!  Whoot!  Soon, we'll be picking out seeds and planting!

Good reminder for the day

Sometimes I just need a reminder that as a soul, I am complete and whole.  Right now.  This moment.  I am just right and have everything that I need.  I love this quote and recently read it again.  I thought I would post it here too.

Project Veggie Garden, the beginnings of a fence

I'm so excited!!! The garden is starting to feel real.  We got most of the materials we will need purchased this weekend. And we started building the new fence.  This spring has been super wet and dreary....but this project is helping me keep a positive outlook as I dream of all the fun to come.

Soccer Season has started!

The Blue Flame is back for spring!  Jeremy is coaching again and Derick has 5 new players to have fun with!  They've had two games so far and you can tell that this team is learning fast.  I've noticed a new level of playing from Derick and I can't wait to watch him continue to get better! His dream is to get a goal this year in a game.  He was REALLY close this week, and had an assist with another player.  Soon, my son, very soon!
