I can't believe it's October already!!! This month always sneaks up on me. Happy Birthday to my sweetie tomorrow.....I am so lucky to be loved by you.

We are making slow progress on the house. As of tonight, all the rotten cedar boards are replaced, the water damage in the back is repaired, and it's been scraped and sanded. Jeremy took some days off work this week to try and finish it up....we'll see if the weather lets us. Lonnie brought up the industrial power sprayer today, so hopefully we can make quick work of it this week. I know getting this done will take a load off Jeremy's shoulders.

Derick seems to be growing every day. He has mastered rolling over, both directions. He can spin in a 360 degree circle on his blanket and consistently rolls off the carpet to investigate new and wonderful things. Today, I had to run upstairs to grab something and came back to find him chewing on daddy's laptop strap....several feet away from where I had left him. Look out world, Derick's on the MOVE. He even is starting to scoot with his knees coming up off the carpet. He's very close to crawling. Looks like it's time to get those baby gates!

I think we will be seeing some teeth soon....he can't get enough of chewing. Fingers, toys, water bottles....whatever is in his reach, goes into that mouth to be chewed! It's pretty cute...but you really have to watch what's nearby now. He's quick!

We have started solid foods too. Derick had his first taste of rice cereal mixed with brest milk last Sunday, September 24th. He took to it very fast...I feel like we didn't really have to practice much with the spoon. Guess he's been watching Jeremy and I enough to know what to do. We fed him at Nonna and Pappa's house Tuesday and they got some cute video and photos. I'll post the pics as soon as I can. I am looking forward to introducing more foods....but we're taking it slow, watching for allergic reactions like good parents. :) I love to watch him eat....get messy...it's fun until you have to clean up! We really do have a little boy now....he's growing up before our eyes!

Happy Halloween! Derek is just getting cuter every day! I must admit I was a little jealous reading about Derek's sleeping habits, even when he is sick! What I wouldn't give for Coen to sleep more than 2 hours at a stretch! You must be doing something right! We must have another play-date soon, Coen is surrounded by all girls at the moment!
Kirsten (and Coen, who is at the moment, being "nursed" to sleep by Daddy)
