A year ago, my family received some devastating news when my father was diagnosed with an aggressive form of blood cancer. One year later, he gets up every morning to live another day to it's fullest. He is an inspiration to me, climbing his mountains at a slow and steady pace, doing everything he can to drink in all life has to offer. Dad, your courage and grace are unparalleled. Mom, your attitude and loving light shine so bright! You both are pillars of strength and love. I am so very grateful for you both and I love you dearly!

What kind of blood cancer does your dad have?
Karen Fiechtner
Karen, He has Multiple Myeloma, and a genetic marker in his DNA that makes it even more aggressive then most cases. Last fall, he was concidering a stem cell transplant, but grew too weak to undergo the treatment. Currently, he is on a drug trial study, with some new and impressive chemo drugs.
I asked because I have a blood disorder but it isn't aggressive (for me) since I was diagnosed 20 years ago and only started treatment four years ago. I have MDS or myelodysplastic syndromes. Currently I go in every four to five weeks for a blood transfusion of three units of red blood cells.
I'm glad to hear your dad is doing better.
