Derick's first day of Kindergarten

Wow, time has FLOWN!  Our little man has completed his first day of Kindergarten.  The morning went pretty smoothly.  We've been setting our alarm all week to make sure that both of us were used to getting up at 7am.  Derick moaned a little this morning, but when I reminded him that he actually got to go to school this time, he jumped right out of bed and starting getting ready.  He was so excited, he only ate one bowl of cereal before donning his back pack and calling, "I'm going to wait outside for you and Darla, Mom!"

Daddy started work late this morning so he could join us.  We all walked to the bus stop together.   Derick was happy to find out that he gets to ride the morning bus with his neighbor friends Hui-Ann and Angela.  The bus arrived and he hopped right on, barely looking back for us.

Daddy headed on to work and Darla and I drove to school to drop off his school supplies and get a few more pictures.
His afternoon bus ride home was a little confusing at first because the transportation department had the wrong bus route information on our card.  But they got it all sorted out and Derick came bounding off the school bus only a few minutes late.  He was full of stories of his first day.  The learned all the rules of the classroom and even sang a song about it.  He played on the playground with shaving cream and brought home lots of paperwork for mommy and daddy to read.  I am SO proud of my little man, and I think he's going to LOVE this year of school.  Yay for Derick!!!
