Working the dirt

I spent some more time in the yard this weekend, working in the dirt.  It was just what my soul needed after the tough week I've had.

I started more seeds on Friday, and put this batch directly into my green house.  I think these seeds will have better luck at surviving a transplant.  You can see my first lil starts in the background of this shot, getting some sun while I planted the new ones.

Saturday, J2D2 pulled the sheet mulch off the veggie beds and got to witness all of the worms and centipedes that were living under the decomposing leaves.  It was a nice way to spend some quality family time.  And, our garden is looking alive once again.

I cleaned up the berry patch, too.  I hope we get a crop of raspberries this year.  It's looking kinda sparse, to me.  But I'll try to be hopeful.

While shopping at Fred Meyer on Friday, I picked up some fuchsia starts (great price-I couldn't pass them up) and happily discovered that I had 5 plants winter over from last summer!  Yippee!  So, this year, I'll have three hanging baskets full of some of my favorites!  Yay for garden therapy!
