Jeremy, being the forward thinker that he is, has begun to get us ready for new flooring....someday we'll have enough saved! In the mean time, my fix-it/handyman hubby took an old door jam off our stairwell so that when we do put new flooring in, we won't have to do it then. And, it has opened up the room by a good 8 inches. The previous owners had a door in this opening when the basement wasn't finished. Now that it is, we can not put a door back in this location due to air flow codes for the furnace. He did all the demo-with help from the kids. They thought that part was the best.
