I'm not one to make new years resolutions, but I do like to make goals for myself. A few days ago, I stepped on the scale and didn't like what I saw. (Mind You, I wasn't surprised.) So, its back to the trail I go. I have two races coming up and training has begun. The first race is in february, 17 miles up and back down Mt. Constitution on Orcas Island. This one will be on a soft trail, and a very different experience than I've ever had. This last weekend, Jenn and I walked 14 miles without any previous outings. I was surprised at how well my body and mind did! The last mile was the hardest. I'm really looking forward to this race. Yesterday, I signed up for my third 1/2 marathon, which will be in May. It feels good to have goals to work for. I always do better with something on the horizon.
I am also turning my attention to a new health development in this new year. I recently found out that at 37 years old, I am going through pre-menupase. And I most likely have been going through it for a few years now. After several months with no cycle, I had some blood tests done to confirm my suspicion. While this doesn't change any plans for growing our family, it does have some effects on my body and emotional state. I will be working with my doctors to find the best couse of action in the coming weeks.
So here's to a new year and better health.
